How to Stop Procrastinating and Take Action

Ok so here I am tasked with writing a blog about procrastination…. And guess what… it is officially the 11th hour before we’d like to publish it and I’m just now getting organized. In fact, this little sticky note has been on the corner of my computer for about 2 weeks now. 

So with that said, I may not be the “expert” when it comes to talking about how or why we procrastinate and what to do about it. But here’s my best assessment….

Stop Playing Small

Ladies, I have an urgent message for you – STOP PLAYING SMALL!  You were meant for greatness and NOW is your time to go after it. One of the most important things that was instilled in me by my parents is that I could be and do anything I wanted . . . I just had to believe in myself and be a hard worker.  I will say that those two messages instilled in me the confidence and the work ethic that I believe is responsible for my success and happiness in life.  Now I have a daughter of my own and I am doing everything I can to empower her in the same way.

But I know it’s not easy. The truth is as we grow our life experiences, our failures, criticism we receive from others, our own negative self-talk, along with the real-life pressure of life, like needing make ends meet and taking care of a family, can cause us to shrink, to shy away from our big dreams, to settle for less than what we truly want, and ultimately to get STUCK on auto pilot.

Why Is It Important to Have Clarity of Vision?

When it comes to your LIFE - knowing your “why” is an important first step to create a life that excites you. When you are clear about who you are, what you want and where you are headed you can approach each day with deliberate action that brings you closer to your goals. Clarity of purpose challenges you to do better and be better. Having a clear purpose gives you comfort and direction.

So why do so many successful women struggle to find clarity in their lives? 

First you must understand that clarity is something that you seek – it is not just something you have. Clarity is not a personality trait that some women were born with while others were not. Instead clarity comes when you search for new opportunities, explore new possibilities, ask questions, try new things, and commit to a continual process of trial and error.
